Child Care Teachers: The Piedmont Family YMCA is looking for TWO warm, dedicated and responsible individuals to join its child care team. We are looking for a full-time child care teacher and a part-time child care teacher assistant.
A YMCA child care teacher plans and implements classroom curriculum, maintains children's records, communicates information to parents, and maintains a safe, healthy, warm, engaging, and attractive environment. Age-appropriate activities should provide for growth in skill, self-awareness, group relations, and character development. By conducting themselves in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner, the Teacher is a role model for children and adults.
Required skills and qualifications for this position are: 1. Must have an Associate's degree, CDA, or higher in early childhood education. 2. Must be First Aid and CPR certified. 3. Must have skills in working with families. 4. Knowledge of group process-must agree to work in harmony with other staff. 5. Must be committed to the philosophy of the YMCA.
After School Teachers: The Piedmont Family YMCA After-School program at Park’s Edge Apartments is hiring part-time staff for our After School program from 2:30-5:30. Under the direction of the Program Director provides leadership to a group of school age children (Ages 5-14). Leads activities of a wide variety to include, but not limited to sports: sports, drama, crafts, homework assistance, fitness and dance. Individual acts as a role model; planning and conducting age appropriate activities on a daily basis. Cheerfully carries out all assignments given. Cooperate fully with all other staff members. Individual must show deep commitment to the mission of the YMCA. This is a great opportunity for college students or for someone who has extra time to make a difference. Applicant must be reliable, enthusiastic, good with children and parents, energetic, team player, and flexible. High School diploma or GED are required with experience working with children. Minimum age: 18.
