Parent Council

Members of the CYAC swim team Parent Council are volunteer swim parents who are willing to work on various activities required for the swim team to function well. We welcome new members. Our goal is to have every family actively involved in at least one committee or role. If we can accomplish this, we will avoid having a small group of parents doing multiple jobs. Volunteering is a great way for new CYAC families to meet other CYAC families and feel more a part of our team. The CYAC swim team Parent's Council's role is to assist the Director of Competitive Swimming and the Head Coach to insure proper operation of CYAC in accordance with the mission, principles and policies of the YMCA. It is expected by the Piedmont Family YMCA that CYAC will be effectively run under the direct supervision of the Director of Competitive Swimming. The CYAC Director of Competitive Swimming, Cameron Burr, with support from Head Coach John Nelson, is responsible for communicating all Piedmont Family YMCA policies, rules and regulations to swimmers and parents. He is also responsible for insuring that these policies, rules and regulations are adhered to by all coaches, parents and swimmers. The Parent Council assists the Director of Competitive Swimming in accomplishing the required tasks to insure that CYAC operates effectively. The Director of Competitive Swimming reports directly to the Piedmont Family YMCA Executive Director, Denny Blank.

Parents Council Meetings
CYAC Parent's Council meetings are open for parents to come, if they wish, and will be posted on the website well in advance of the meeting. Any parent can email our Chairperson Lisa Cannell, if they would like to add an agenda item to the Parents Council meeting.

The ability to provide an exceptional quality swimming program for all current and future swimmers requires that the Piedmont Family YMCA/CYAC Swim Team supplement program fees with additional revenues generated by fundraising activities. To assist families in meeting their fundraising obligations, CYAC operates the following programs listed below. Parents and swimmers can choose to participate in one or more of these programs, depending on which of these activities works best for them. As you participate in these fundraising activities, the family’s account will be credited the dollar amounts accumulated/earned as defined under each program.

2012-2013 Fundraising Commitment

Winter Option Only
$100 for 8 & U; $150 for Junior 1; $175 for Junior 2; $225 for Junior 3;
$275 for Senior 1; and $300 for Senior 2.
$100 for second child in family; NO obligation for 3rd child in family.

Full Year Option
$125 for 6-8; $175 for Junior 1; $200 for Junior 2; $275 for Junior 3;
$350 for Senior 1; and $400 for Senior 2.
$100 for second in family; NO obligation for 3rd child in family.

Kroger Gift Cards
CYAC families may purchase Kroger Gift Cards for $5 (the $5 is loaded on the card), add additional funds to their card at Kroger customer service (via cash, check or credit card), and then pay for their goods with their Kroger card at checkout receiving 5% of their transaction value toward their fundraising obligation.  Please note that you can use your Kroger gift card for gas purchases at Kroger and Shell stations, too.  Please contact Program Coordinator: Irene Jefferson, by phone at 434-977-0385 or by email - renebean1004@gmail.com to purchase your card today!

 

Attractions Dining and Value Guides (Coupon Books)
2013 Attractions Dining & Value Guide: $25 each and you earn $12.50 credit in your family's CYAC fundraising account.  Book orders are due by October 26th.  Contact Brad Heilman (bjheilman@yahoo.com) and Nancy Tan (ntan@serico.com) to order books and for more information.

Friends of CYAC
Credits against your family fundraising obligations are given dollar-for-dollar for donations to the Piedmont Family YMCA and the CYAC Swim program that you solicit and collect. In some circumstances, the donations will be tax-deductible. A completed donation report form must accompany the check for proper credit to be applied.
