WHAT
YMCA Rookie Soccer is a skill-development program designed to introduce children to the basics of soccer in a fun and inviting environment. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved as the pair learn new skills, run through drills, and have fun together! The emphasis is on learning, confidence building, and socialization; not winning or competing.

Youth Soccer Transitional League

The new Youth Soccer Transitional League is designed to build on skills that young soccer players have already obtained. Each week players will have a 30-minute practice followed by a shortened game. Players will be assigned to teams based on experience level.

Program Goals:

  • Build Strong Parent/Child relationships!
  • Provide a Fun, non-competitive atmosphere for children to learn the fundamentals of soccer.
  • Encourage parents to volunteer as coach and be actively involved in their child's learning process!
  • Have Fun!

Instructional League Details:

  • Session size will vary according to the number of participants. The ideal session size is one coach to 10-12 players.
  • Kids will play age-appropriate, modified games to learn the sport of soccer.
  • Each session will be 1 hour. Structured learning time will be 45 minutes. The last 15 minutes will be for snacks, team circle and free play time with parents.
  • The Y will provide soccer balls, t-shirts, and medals.
  • Children and parents should wear comfortable clothing. Shin-guards are required. Cleats are recommended, but not required.
