Y Scooter League Basketball (Ages 3-6) About the League A skill-development program designed to introduce your child to the fundamentals of basketball while participating in fun skill exercises, relays, and game-like situations. Parents and children will run through drills and have fun together in this supportive, non-competitive environment. The coaches are patient, knowledgeable and understanding adults who will work with all children to enhance their basketball skills and love for the game! FALL SCOOTER This 6-week program held at Woodbrook Elementary School on Saturdays from November 3, 2007 through December 15, 2007. Times are as follows:
WINTER SCOOTER This 6-week program will be held on Saturday mornings beginning January 5, 2008 and ending February 9, 2008. Times and locations are as follows:

Y-Rookie League Basketball (Age 7/8 (2nd Grade Only) About the Program... Rookie League Basketball is designed as a transitional league between our Scooter Program and Recreational Program. The first two weeks will be instructional and the last four weeks we be organized games at three rotating sites. The key focus in the Y-Rookie league is on learning the game as we emphasize "healthy competition." BASKETBALL REGISTRATION FORM Recreation League Basketball - Grades 3 - 12 About the league... This popular league is designed for beginner to advanced players. Teams are grouped by gender and grade. The school that players attend is the primary criteria used in forming teams. All players are guaranteed equal playing time. Players will be contacted by their coaches to advise them of practice times and location. All participants who register by the deadline, Friday October 5, 2007 are guaranteed placement. Registrations are date stamped and placed on teams on a first-come basis. Late registrations will be placed where needed. The YMCA cannot honor all team requests. WHEN 1-hour practices are held each week beginning in late October Games are held on Saturdays and/or Sundays beginning December 1, 2007 (excluding December 22nd and 29th) and ending February 10, 2008 Tournaments will be held after February 10th at the conclusion of the regular season WHERE Albemarle County Schools COST $85.00 (DEADLINE = OCTOBER 5, 2007 $15 Late fee if received after October 5 *cost includes increased gym rental fees Financial assistance is available. BASKETBALL REGISTRATION FORM Excel League Basketball - Grades 5 through 12 About the league... This league is designed for advanced, highly competitive players. Teams come in pre-formed with a designated coach (ask y for team roster form). Teams must have a minimum of 9 players on their roster. Coaches looking to add players are encouraged to attend open gym nights. Games will be played in accordance with Virginia High School League rules, with minor modifications. Unlike Y-Recreation League rules, teams will play 4 7-minute quarters, stopped clock; zone defenses are allowed; full-court pressure is allowed. See below for detailled rules. Each participant's playing time will be determined by coaches. Playing time is NOT guaranteed. This league is open to Middle School, High School, and AAU teams. YMCA staff and volunteer commissioners will do our best to divide teams up in a manner most fair for all involved. SCORESHEETS COACHES - Please designate a scorekeeper (other than yourself) for each game. Please fill out the following form COMPLETELY and turn it in to the site supervisor at the conclusion of the game.
